Orega
Orega, a leading office space provider renowned for its innovative and flexible workspace solutions, has expanded its presence in the City of London with a new high-specification flexible workspace at 70 Mark Lane, EC3.
Delivered in collaboration with workplace design specialists Area. The 27,832 sq. ft refurbishment spans the 1st and 2nd floors of the 16-storey building, creating a contemporary environment that accommodates approximately 520 workstations. The scheme reflects Orega’s continued investment in premium, design-led workspaces that respond to the expectations of modern occupiers while maintaining a strong commercial focus.
Modern Workspace
Strategically located just moments from Fenchurch Street Station, the workspace benefits from exceptional connectivity, making it highly attractive to both established businesses and growing organisations. The building’s expansive glazing provides uninterrupted views over the station and surrounding cityscape, flooding the interior with natural light and reinforcing a sense of openness. This strong connection to the external environment enhances the overall workplace experience, supporting productivity and wellbeing while anchoring the scheme firmly within its urban context.
Design Approach
The refurbishment at Mark Lane has been carefully considered to address the evolving demands of the post-pandemic workplace. Flexibility sits at the core of the design, with a variety of working zones that cater to different styles of occupancy, from focused individual work to collaborative team settings. Enhanced technology infrastructure has been seamlessly integrated to support hybrid working, while upgraded health and safety measures contribute to a secure and future-ready environment. This approach ensures the space not only meets current expectations but remains adaptable for years to come.
Integrated Ceiling Solutions
A key aspect of Orega’s design philosophy is the avoidance of a uniform, one-size-fits-all model. Instead, each location is treated as a unique response to its surroundings, drawing influence from the building and local area to create a distinct identity. At Mark Lane, this narrative is expressed through a carefully curated material palette and detailing that reflects the character of the City. Subtle references to the building’s architecture and its professional surroundings establish a refined aesthetic that resonates with its primary occupiers, including those in the legal and financial sectors.
Working closely with Area, we played a pivotal role in translating the design intent into a cohesive ceiling solution that enhances both form and function. The AC400 ceiling systems, incorporating Zircon RB65 expanded mesh panels finished in RAL1036, were selected to introduce texture, depth and visual continuity across the space. These systems act as a unifying feature, seamlessly connecting communal areas while maintaining a light, open feel. Their versatility and precision-engineered performance align with Amron’s commitment to delivering high-quality architectural solutions that support both design ambition and practical requirements.
Project Completion
The overall sense of luxury is further elevated through the integration of brass and gold accents throughout the workspace. From brass detailing to coordinated finishes such as gold taps and integrated technology features within kitchen areas, every element has been carefully considered to create a sophisticated and cohesive environment. These touches not only enhance the visual identity of the space but also reflect the expectations of a discerning client base, delivering a workplace that feels both premium and purposeful.
The Mark Lane project stands as a strong example of how thoughtful design, collaborative delivery and high-performance architectural systems can come together to create a workspace that is both functional and distinctive. By balancing flexibility, aesthetic quality and technical excellence, the scheme successfully supports Orega’s vision for modern office environments. Our contribution ensures the space performs as well as it looks, resulting in a refined, future-ready workplace that meets the demands of today’s professionals while setting a benchmark for future developments.
