Mode, Birmingham
During the global pandemic, Copper and Ash Design, in collaboration with SKK Interiors, embarked on an exciting project to transform a space into a new home for Mode, a brand looking for a design-driven environment that seamlessly combines functionality, comfort, and style.
Despite the challenges posed by the lockdown, the collaborative effort aimed to create a space that not only reflected the Mode brand but also incorporated elements of Scandinavian design, a style that resonated with the client.

The client’s primary objectives were to establish a design-driven environment that embodied the Mode brand ethos. They sought a space that was both inviting and comfortable, with a keen interest in integrating Scandinavian design elements. During the lockdown, the client envisioned a space that would not only serve as a functional hub but also resonate with the brand’s identity.
With the client’s vision in mind, Copper and Ash Design proposed a design concept that celebrated the existing architectural features of the space.

The team was eager to showcase the raw beauty of the concrete ceiling slab and the character of the parquet floor by exposing them. Additionally, they planned to strip back the existing stud work to highlight the distinctive Crittall windows, creating a seamless connection between the interior and the architectural elements.
A pivotal element in the design concept was the incorporation of the AC400 ceiling system using Zircon RB35, in RAL 2003. This choice not only added an industrial touch to the space but also provided a functional and aesthetically pleasing solution. The copper tones in the RB35 finish complemented the exposed concrete, creating a harmonious blend of industrial and Scandinavian design elements..

SKK Interiors played a crucial role in bringing the design concept to life. Their expertise in creating bespoke joinery solutions allowed for the seamless integration of Scandinavian-inspired elements. The collaboration aimed to strike a balance between the industrial features of the existing building and the clean, minimalistic lines characteristic of Scandinavian design.
The result of the collaboration was a unique and captivating space that perfectly captured the essence of the Mode brand. The exposed concrete ceiling and parquet floor, paired with the stripped-back stud work and highlighted Crittall windows, provided a backdrop that showcased the fusion of industrial and Scandinavian design elements.
The AC400 ceiling system using Zircon RB35, RAL 2003, played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall aesthetic, adding warmth and character to the space. The client expressed satisfaction with the final outcome, noting that the design concept not only met but exceeded their expectations.
